: mara, good morning, there have been arrests in the killings. our workers who were in benghazi have all been evacuated to tripoli. there there are only emergency staff working in the embassy as there are fears today across the pond and here about more violence in the region. more demonstrations overnight. more tear gas. more rocks thrown at police. so far, more than 200 have been injured in protests at 11 u.s. compounds and despite a call for calm by egypt's president, there's concern about more violence today afterriday prayer. >> we are going to bring those who killed our fellow americans to justice. >> reporter: the fbi is sending a team from new york to germany, then ben ghazbenghazi. they said they're looking for more. >> we have to protect our people. we have to protect the americans. >> reporter: secretary of state hillary clinton identified the two security guards who were killed. >> they were good and great men. they were committed to the cause of building a brighter future for the people of libya. >> reporter: in washington and on the campaign trail, republicans are pushing th

the men's service. they were killed in that attack in the u.s. embassy in benghazi. >> now, more on an attack that killed two american service members in air base. it a it's the same base where england's prince harry is stationed. reports say the prince was not hurt. nbc news chief pentagon correspondent joins us by phone. first, mitt, can you tell us more about what happened this in that attack? >> well, officials tell us that this was a complex attack. in other words, it went on for some time. very well organized. it involved small-arms fire, rocket fire and some mortar fire at camp bastion. now, tragically enough, two u.s. marines were killed in that attack by presumably th the taliban. but what drew world attention, of course, is this is where prince harry who just arrived on his second four-month tour for the british military is based there at camp bastion. now, what was odd about this is that when he arrived, the british military itself issued a press release and even video of harry there in an hipachee helicopter. now, in previous visits, there was no public announcement.

in benghazi but secretary clinton will give a classified account of the attacks on the u.s. consulate in libya. witnesses tell cbs news that there was never an anti-american protest outside of the consulate. instead they say it came under planned attack. that's in direct contradiction to the administration's account of the incident. it comes at a time when there are calls for more information from capitol hill and complaints that the administration has not been forthright. >> i'm just stunned and appalled that there wasn't better security for all of the american personnel at that consulate given the high threat environment. >> reporter: now, under law state must establish a panel to investigate the attacks, report to congress within 60 days. today secretary of state hillary clinton will outline what she is and is not willing to share. what's clear, charlie is that the public won't get a detailed account of what happened until after the presidential election. >> margaret, brennan thank you. john miller is with us. good morning. who is this man? >> he's a former al qaeda member who was in guanta

there they say is off limits because of an intelligence matter. according to the fbi isn't even in benghazi yet. they haven't secured that site is how journalists can wander through. >> the "new york times" reporting a major story attack in libya was a major blow to cia efforts, that was an important place and they were watching some important terrorist activity and those cia agents have been compromised in terms of their ability to do what they wanted to do. >> i'm sure there are many agencies active in that area, so responsibility for security for the ambassador and his staff falls on diplomatic security which is part of the state department, which is why they are under fire and why there's so much pressure to fill in some of the blanks. journalists are trying to do that. the state department has to produce a report in 60 days to congress. it's not clear how detailed that information will be. >> a lot more news. >>> southern california firefighters are battling two fast-moving wildfires. one near los angeles and east of san diego near the mexican border on the campo indian reservation. no inj
